Lumina Learning is a next-generation EdTech platform that transforms static course content into interactive, AI-powered learning experiences. Educators can create inquiry-led sessions that engage learners in real-time conversations with Lumina — an empathetic AI educator available 24/7 via text or voice. The platform adapts to each learner’s pace and language, with multilingual support and full accessibility from any device or browser.

We developed Lumina as an AI-driven education platform that empowers educators to create intelligent, flexible, and engaging learning paths. My role as the full-stack developer involved:
- Migrating the backend from Laravel to Node.js for better scalability
- Building the front end using Next.js and Tailwind CSS
- Integrating OpenAI’s SDK, Assistants API, and Completions API to power real-time, intelligent conversations
- Implementing LiveKit for audio-based interaction and transcription
- Creating features like AI summaries, progress analytics, academic integrity tools, and LMS integrations (Canvas, D2L)
- Setting up Azure as a fallback for secure AI model hosting
